3.3 Pericardial Sac Flashcards
Identify the Pericardial Sac and its two layers. Describe the sac’s innervation and arterial supply.
- Fibrous pericardium
- Parietal layer of serous pericardium
Innervated by Phrenic nerve (C3-5). Arterial supply by pericardiophrenic artery.
Identify the Pericardial space/cavity. Between what two layers is this found?
Between the parietal layer of serous pericardium and the visceral layer of serous pericardium (epicardium) on the surface of the heart.
Identify the Visceral layer of serous pericardium (epicardium)
Identify the Ascending aorta
Identify the Superior vena cava. Into what region does this drain?
Right atrium.
Identify the Pulmonary trunk and its basic course.
Right ventricle— Pulmonary trunk–Pulmonary arteries
Locate the Transverse pericardial sinus
Posterior to aorta and pulmonary trunk but in front of SVC
Locate the Oblique pericardial sinus
Posterior aspect of heart
Locate anatomy of the heart in situ.
