3.1 Lungs Flashcards
Identify the Phrenic nerve. From where does it originate?
Name 2 things it innervates related to the thoracic cavity/lungs.
Originates C3-C5. Innervates diaphragm as well as mediastinal and diaphragmatic portions of parietal pleura
Locate the Pericardiophrenic artery. From where does it branch.
It is a branch of the internal thoracic artery.
Identify the Vagus nerve and its origin. Name 1 thing it innervates related to the lungs.
CN X. Parasympathetic innervation of visceral pleura
Identify the Left and right bronchial arteries and their function. From where do they branch?
Supply lungs with oxygenated blood.
Typically arise from the thoracic aorta (variation especially in right bronchial artery)
Recall and locate basic Lung anatomy/surfaces.
apex, base, diaphragmatic surface, costal surface, mediastinal surface, anterior border, posterior border, inferior border
Describe and locate Right lung anatomical features
Superior, middle, inferior lobes.
Horizontal fissure, oblique fissure
Azygos vein impresson
Describe and locate Left lung anatomical features
Superior, inferior lobes. oblique fissure lingula cardiac notch cardiac impression aortic impression impression for the aortic arch
Identify the Hilum and what it consists of.
bronchi
pulmonary arteries and veins
pulmonary ligament (extension of parietal pleura - helps hold lower lungs in place).
