A

Natural evil - Suffering caused by natural events, e.g. floods, earthquakes
Moral evil - Suffering that is directly caused by humans acting in a way that is morally wrong, e.g. murder, terrorism.

A

What are some Islamic beliefs about suffering?

A
  • All Muslims must put faith in Allah, therefore we must not question anything that happens to us.
  • Belief in predestination lets Muslims know that everything that happens to them is planned.
  • Suffering is a test of faith & character.
  • Some Muslims believe that humans suffer on Earth as a result of sin.
  • Suffering could be to help prepare people to cope with future challenges.
