3.2 Motion graphs Flashcards
What is a distance-time graph
the distance that something travels over a certain time
What happens to the line on the distance-time graph if you stay still
The line is horizontal
What happens to the line on the distance-time graph if you go at a constant speed
it goes up gradually
What happens if the line is steep?
What happens if the line is not steep?
The slope of a distance time graph tells you the speed,
- if the line is steep the object is moving fast
- if its not steep the object is moving slowly
State what a more realistic graph shows
It shows that the change of speed is shown in the graph and the slope changes gradually not suddenly
What happens if your speed is changing
You are then accelerating
acceleration definition
the amount by which the speed increases in one second
