Deal with all types of offence and offender - specialists deal with specifics (HMRC deal with tax evasion/fraud)
Judiciary Aims and Objectives
Basic role is to interpret and apply the law to cases.
• In Crown Court - judge manages trial, ensures fairness, explains legal issues and procedures, sums up evidence, passes sentence.
• In Appeal Courts - judge makes ruling on previous decisions (may create precedents)
Judiciary Reach
National and Local Reach
Supreme Court has nationwide jurisdiction. Judges in lower courts handle local cases.

Judges deal with all types of offence and offender, except unserious cases (magistrate cases/police notices).
