The Lords

A

Members called peers. 800 peers. Used to all be noblemen. Were all hereditary, but now only 92 are. Rest are life positions who cannot pass them on. Lords act as a ‘double check’.

Criminal Justice Act (2003) - changed double jeopardy rule after Macpherson Report.

Dangerous Dogs Act (1991) - rushed through parliament as over-reaction to moral panic. Many flaws.
