What is the treatment for psoriasis diaper rash?
Treatment often required for weeks or until toilet trained. Steroids. Ketoconazole if candida present.
What is the treatment for atopic derm diaper rash?
Follow care for contact derm and eczema. ABX for bacterial infx.
What is the treatment for seborrhea diaper rash?
Ketoconazole and/or hydrocortisone
What is the treatment for candidiasis diaper rash?
Normal treatment plus antifungal cream

Hyperpigmentation and erythema at folds and diaper edges.
Mechanical rash from diapers
What type of diaper rash?
Breakdown of the skin’s natural barrier due to chemical irritation (urine, proteolytic enzymes, and moisture in urine/feces).
Irritant contact diaper rash
What type of diaper rash?
Shallow pustules, fiery-red scaly plaques on convex surfaces, inguinal folds, labia, and scrotum.
Candidiasis diaper rash
What type of diaper rash?
Chapped, shiny, erythematous, parchment-like skin with possible erosions on convex surface; CREASES SPARED.
Irritant contact diaper rash
What type of diaper rash?
Erythematous, well-defined sharp, scaly plaques on convex surfaces and inguinal folds; less widespread.
Psoriasis
What is the treatment for most diaper rashes (6)?
- Frequent diaper changes
- Gentle cleansing (avoid baby wipes-use soap/water)
- Greasy lubricant (protective barrier)
- Sitz bath
- Air dry
- 0.5-1% hydrocortisone for inflammation (once daily for brief period)
What type of diaper rash?
Increased number of lines in skin; areas of excoriation in folds and convex surfaces and buttocks; less widespread.
Atopic diaper rash (eczema)
What is the treatment for miliaria or intertrigo diaper rash?
Self-limited (miliaria). Avoid precipitating factors. Same as for contact derm.
Use anticandidal agents in any clinically significant diaper dermatitis present for _____, regardless of morphology. C. albicans is likely playing a secondary role in perpetuating the dermatitis.
