29 - Understanding the Working Principles of the Cisco SD-WAN Solution Flashcards
The __ solution is a software-based, virtual IP fabric overlay that builds a secure, unified connectivity over any transport network (the underlay)
SD-WAN
The Cisco SD-WAN solution consists of several components that provide __ of the roles within the fabric. The __ of roles within the SD-wan fabric allows for a highly scalable and efficient environment.
separation
Virtualised network runs as an overlay on cost-effective hardware called __ routers, or virtual machines (VMs) in the cloud, called __ cloud routers.
vEdge
Centralised controllers, called __ controllers, oversee the control plane of the SD-WAN fabric, efficiently managing provisioning, maintenance, and security for the entire Cisco SD-WAN overlay network.
vSmart
__ orchestrator automatically authenticates all other SD-WAN devices when they join the SD-WAN overlay network
vBond
__ Network Management System (NMS) provides simple yet power set of graphical dashboards for monitoring performance on all devices in the overlay network from a centralisaed monitor station. In addition, the __ NMS provides centralised software installation, upgrade, and provisioning.
vManage
The __ plane is responsible for zero touch deployment and security validation during deployment.
Orchestration
The Orchestration Pane has the following characteristics:
- First point of authentication
- Orchestrates the connectivity between the management, control, and data plane
- Requires a public IP address or 1:1 NAT
- Facilitates NAT traversal
- All other components need to know the vBond IP address or DNS information
- Authorises all control connections
- Distributes a list of vSmart controllers to all vEdge routers
The Cisco __ is a multitenant element of the Cisco SD-WAN fabric.
vBond orchestrator
The __ Plane provides control and visibility to entire fabric.
Management
The management plane has the following characteristics:
- Single pane of glass for Day0, Day1, and Day2 operations
- Real time alerting
- Centralised provisioning
- Configuration standardisation
- Simplicity of deploying
- Simplicity of change
- Supports various Programmatic APIs
Cisco __ is on the management plane and provides a single pane of glass for day 0, 1 and 2 operations.
vManage
The Cisco SD-WAN __ being abstracted from the other planes of fabric operation ensures that process intensive operations are performed in the __ do not affect the other planes of fabric operation
Control Plane
The Control plane is the centralised brain of the solution, establishing ___peering with all the vEdge routers. Control plane policies such as service changing, traffic engineering and per VPN topology are implemented by the Control Plane. The goal of the control plane is to dramatically reduce complexity within the entire fabric network. While no network data is forwarded by the Control Plane itself, connectivity information is distributed from the Control Plane to all vEdge routers, orchestrating the secure data plane.
Overlay Management Protocol (OMP)
Cisco __ provide scalability to the control plane functionality of the SD-WAN fabric.
vSmart controllers
The Cisco SD-WAN __ plane is responsible for tunnel establishment and data forwarding within the fabric.
Data
The WAN edge router (__) functions as the Data Plane. The __ routers provide a secure data plane with remote __ routers, a secure control plane with vSmart controllers, and implements data plane and application aware policies. Because all data within the fabric is forwarded in the data plane, performance statistics are exported from the __ routers.
vEdge
Cisco vEdge routers are the __ elements of the Cisco SD-WAN fabric. Cisco vEdge routers are essentially WAN edge routers that are positioned at every site at which the SD-WAN fabric must be extended.
data plane
The Cisco SD-WAN solution has great __ and __ that give administrators valuable insights into SD-WAN operations and performance.
automation, analytics
The __ platform provides graphical representations of the performance of your entire Cisco SD-WAN overlay network over time and enables you to drill down to the characteristics of a single carrier, tunnel, or application at a particular time.
vAnalytics
Some vAnalytics features are as follows:
- Provides real-time information for failure correlation, cross-customer benchmarking, and application performance scores.
- Enables future planning based on intelligent data (application and bandwidth forecasting, branch expansion analysis, and policy change what-if’s).
- Provides a Quality of Experience (QoE) score for applications that are running on your network to help identify how your application is performing based on recent changes made on your network.
