Differentiate between Inspiration and Expiration
A
Inspiration
- Active Process: Requires energy.
- Muscle Contraction: Involves contraction of respiratory muscles (like the diaphragm and intercostal muscles).
- Air Intake: Draws air into the lungs.
Expiration
- Passive or Active: Can be either.
- Passive: In quiet breathing, it doesn’t require much energy.
- Active: In forced breathing, additional muscles are used.
- Air Release: Pushes air out of the lungs.
