IM: licensed, conventionally trained providers with additional training in healing-oriented, evidence based medicine that COMBINES conventional and alternative medicine therapies
GP: involve pt in own health (motivational interviewing), compassion/caring, entertain non-conventional approaches, scientifically evaluate all tx, address ALL aspects of pt life
What are the main challenges to alternative medicine (4)
- too many routes of administration
- inconsistent quality
- unknown effective dose
- costs
