24: UE Myology: Brachium Flashcards
Biceps brachii: O and I (for long and short heads)
Long head O: supraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Short head: coracoid process scapula
I: radial tuberosity, bicipital aponeurosis
Biceps brachii A
Flex humerus, flex supine forearm, supinate forearm
Innervation for anterior compartment of brachium
Musculocutaneous N
Bicipital Myotactic Reflex
Sticking thumb placed over bicipital tendon with a reflex hammer -> tendon tightens and forearm flexes slightly
If bicipital myotactic reflex fails, what two possible injuries?
Musculocutaneous N, C5-6 anterior rami damage
Biceps tendinitis
Inflammation of long head of biceps tendon through intertubercular groove
Popeye Deformity
Long head biceps brachii dislocates out of intertubercular groove -> muscle balls up in mid arm
Coracobrachialis O and I
O: coracoid process
I: medial humerus
Coracobrachialis A
Flex and adduct humerus
Brachialis O and I
O: distal anterior humerus
I: ulnar tuberosity, coronoid process
Brachialis A
Flex forearm
Innervation posterior compartment of brachium
Radial N
Triceps brachii origin of all three heads
Long: infraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Lateral: posterior humerus (superior to radial groove)
Medial: posterior humerus (inferior to radial groove)
Triceps brachii I
Olecranon of ulna, antebrachial fascia
Triceps brachii A
Extend forearm
