Built from stone, rather than dug out of the earth, these tombs where very monumental and where reserved for extremely important members of society
What are two features of a tholos tomb ?
-Main part was a high roofed dome dug from the top of a hill
-Side chamber was built to house the body
-extra: stone walls and roofs
What where two features of constructing a tholos tomb?
- often constructed during the person lifetime as they where very time consuming to make
- rarely seen after 13 century
What was the dromos? What would of happened to it after the dead was buried ?
If was a large passage way leading into the tomb
Large stones would of been placed in it to block of the entrance then dirt over the top to seal it
What are chamber tombs and who might of been buried in one ?
A tomb dug from rock in which a body or bodies would be buried in a chamber
