What are the requirements of being the president of the United States?
Must be at least 35 years old, must be a natural, born citizen of the United States, and have been a resident of the United States for at least 14 years.
What are the benefits of being president?
Live in the White House, Secret Service protection, makes an annual salary of $400,000, receives a government pension of $100,000, healthcare paid for by the government.
What are the duties of the president?
Enforce national laws passed by Congress, have a term that equates four years (maybe two times)
What amendment dictates that a president must have a max of two terms, however, it may be 10 years if they were previously, vice president.

As chief of STATE, what are the duties?
Ceremonial duties – awarding medals of honor, recognizing outstanding achievements, appearing at national events, etc.
As chief EXECUTIVE, what are the duties?
Have executive order (no approval from congress) can pardon (legal release from punishment BUT cannot pardon STATE crimes), have the ability to amnesty (group pardon).
As chief ADMINISTRATOR, what are the duties?
Director of the huge executive branch, works with Congress to create and pass yearly budget. And have a cabinet – secretaries of each executive branch agency.
As chief of PARTY, what are the duties?
Leader of the party, most prominent party leader/figure, campaigns for fellow party members, raises money for candidates in party, and patronage – rewards party members with government jobs.
As chief LEGISLATOR, what are the duties?
Gets congress to focus on passing legislation that is important to them – state of the union address annually – and most importantly, Vetos legislation they don’t like
As chief DIPLOMAT, what are the duties?
Main architect of our nations, foreign policy, meets with other foreign leaders, receives ambassadors – recognizes other nations formally, science treaties – with 2/3 approval from both houses of Congress –, executive agreements – with Leaders/other nations without congressional approval.
As COMMANDER IN CHIEF, what are the duties?
Head of the military, can send troops into combat – without or with congressional approval, can initiate decisions – strikes, assassinations (with the supervision of advisors, military officials, Congress).
What are the duties of vice president? How are they elected?
Vice president must be approved by Congress by a majority vote, if the president is disabled, the vice president can take over.
What happens if the president is mentally incapacitated?
If majority of the cabinet and vice president agree, the president is mentally incapacitated, The vice president has power until a solution is confirmed. If there is a disagreement, Congress will decide.
