systole = the pressure when the ventricles contract and blood is pushed away from the heart
what is the second number in the blood pressure measurment expression called? and what does it mean?
diastole = lowered pressure caused when the ventricles relax and fill up with new blood
does blood pressure stay the same at all time? according to what does it change?
no. it changes to meet your body’s needs
when does your blood pressure go up? and when does it go down again to normal level?
up: active, angry, scared, stressed
normal: calm, at rest
what’s the “name” if blood pressure remains high?
hypertension
why is hypertension bad?
the heart must work harder to keep the blood flowing which places an extra strain on it

heart attack, heart failure, kidney disease, stroke
when does a stroke occur?
