2.3-More Graphs for Quantitative Data Flashcards
1
Q
Stem-and-Leaf Plots
A
A simple way to display small data sets. The rightmost digit is the leaf, and the remaining digits are the stem.
2
Q
Split Stem-and-Leaf Plot
A
When one or two stems contain most of the leaves, we use two or more lines for each stem.
3
Q
Back-to-Back Stem-and-Leaf Plot
A
When two data sets have values similar enough so that the same stems can be uses, we put the stem in the middle. The leafs for each data set are placed on each side of the stem.
4
Q
Dotplot
A
a graph that can be used to give a rough impression of the shape of a data set.
5
Q
Time-Series Plot
A
Used when the data consist of values of a variable measured at different points in time.
