2.2.5 Interprets and responds to existing records Flashcards
1
Q
How do you interpret and respond to existing records?
A
- Make a decision based on, their own and previous findings.
- Modify their actions appropriately as a response to relevant history or previous records.
- Identifies and responds to the significance of:
o Refractive change / ocular status
o Clinical findings, for example, reduced VA
o Previous form of optical correction
E.g. You notice a patient’s VA has reduced since the last visit: investigate why & manage
appropriately (e.g. Cataract has worsened, VA is now 6/12 and meets the criteria for treatment,
with consent I have referred the patient routinely for phacoemulsification).
