Explain Differential Association Theory

A

Differential association theory focuses on how individuals learn to become criminals through association with others who hold criminal beliefs, attitudes, motivations ect. Associating with this group makes it easier for the individual to commit crime.

A

Strain theory is based on the belief that crime is a product of individuals with a lower socio-economic status (SES) experiencing tension due to the fact that their economic situation blocks them from attaining higher goals other than through criminal activity.
