22 - Ordering and Verification Flashcards
What 5 things to remember when ordering?
Orders Forms
Specify
Communication
Conventions
Status Quo
What do we do in regards to order forms when ordering?
Seperate forms for each pair of glasses
What do we need to remember during specify when ordering?
Identify boldly what we are ordering
What to remember during communication when ordering?
Only communicate what the lab needs to know
What convention do we need to remember when ordering?
OD always appears first on RX and Order form
What do we need to remember during status quo ordering?
Order the new lenses as similar to the px’s current pair as possible
Review what information is needed for Order Forms on Powerpoint
What do we verify the prescription from?
use the original examination or prescription form
rather than the actual order form
What is neutralization? 2
Determining the refractive power of a lens.
Done with the aid of a lensmeter
What is the purpose of verification?
Used to reveal any errors made when filling out the order form as well as any errors made by the lab
What does a lensmeter allow us to measure? 4
1 - dioptric power of lens
2 - the axis of cylinder of a lens
3 - the amount of prism within a lens
4 - the position of the optical center of a lens
What should we do before we use the lensmeter?
Focus the eyepiece to your eyes
How do we calibrate the lensmeter? 3 steps
1) Turn eyepiece all the way outwards
2)Look into the eyepice and slowly turn the eyepice inward, crosshairs and ring will focus
3)If you go past the focus point turn it back and start again
What are the 5 steps to reading a Minus Cylinder Lens? simple
1) Turn the Power Wheel
2) Place the lens
3) Turn towards minus
4) Sphere Lines
5) Cylinder Lines
What is the special considerations when verifying the prescription in a freeform lens design?
Compare to the compensated prescription
How to differentiate the sphere and cylinder lines on a lensmeter?
Single Line/ narrowly spaced = sphere line
trigle lines/ wider spaced = cylinder line
What are the 5 steps to reading a Minus Cylinder Lens? detailed
1) Turn the power wheel all the way to high plus
2) put lenses in place
3) Turn the power wheel towards the minus
4) Sphere lines will focus FIRST
5) Clyinder lines will focus SECOND
If both sets of lines are sharp what does that mean?
It is a sphere lens
If the cylinderlines are broken what does that mean?
The axis is wrong
What happens if the cylinder lines clear first?
The axis is off by 90 degrees
Review the steps to finding a Minus/Plus Cylinder Lens in Powerpoint
How do you find the cylinder power?
Its the difference between the two powers recorded
How do we tell if a prescription is being read on a lensmeter in plus or minus cyl?
If the power difference goes in plus direction = plus cyl
If the power difference goes in minus direction = minus cyl
