How does the Shi’a understanding of ‘the seal of the prophets’ differ from Sunni?
Shi’a do believe that he was the ‘seal of the prophets’ because the Qur’an was revealed to him, but they also believe in the 12 Imams and that Allah communicated messages to them too
What is Laylat ul-Qadr?
The Night of Power - when the Qur’an was revealed to Muhammad by the angel Jibra’il.
It is believed to have happened in the last 10 days of Ramadan - Muslims today spend this time reading the Qur’an and praying
What is Lailat ul Miraj?
The Night Journey - when Muslims believe that Muhammad was taken by an angel to Jerusalem.
His heart was taken out and purified.
He went to the 7 heavens and spoke with other prophets.
Some Muslims - Sufi - believe that this was a spiritual journey not an actual one and Muslims can do the same if they live pure lives.
What does Hijrah mean?
Emigration - as Muhammad preached his followers grew in number but so did his opposition and he had to leave to go to Yathrib - renamed Medinah.
