When do Muslims believe that the Day of Judgement will happen?
At a time of Allah’s choosing the dead will be resurrected to life and each person will be judged starting with Muhammad
What is Barzakh?
the time between a person’s death and the day of Judgement
Do all Muslims have the same belief about Barzakh?
No
Some believe that the soul’s experience in Barzakh is affected by how they have lived their life
Some believe that they will be given a temporary body either light or dark depending on how they have lived their life
the soul will know the final judgement based on Barzakh
What signs do Sunni Muslims think there will be to show that the Day of Judgement is coming?
Isa will appear as the Messiah
He will lead a battle until Islam is left as the one true religion
He will bring together true Muslims
What signs do Shi’a Muslims think there will be to show that the Day of Judgement is coming?
the 12th hidden Imam will return as the Messiah
What do Muslims believe will happen on the Day of Judgement?
Allah - the All Seeing, Knowing and Bringer of Justice will judge and show perfect justice
What happens to Muslims on the Day of Judgement
They are rewarded and admitted to paradise forever
What happens to non Muslims and bad people on the Day of Judgement?
They will be sent to the fires of hell but once they have been punished they can eventually enter paradise
What sin will Allah not forgive?
shirk (worshipping idols or polytheistic gods)
What is Siraat?
The bridge that all passover on their way to paradise. Those that fall due to the weight of their bad deeds will remain in hell forever
What two exceptions are there to the Day of Judgement?
Warriors who die fighting in the cause of Allah are sent immediately into the presence of Allah
Enemies of Islam are sentenced immediately to hell upon death
What is al-Jannah?
heaven
What is the name for heaven?
al-Jannah
How will believers be welcomed into al-Jannah?
by angels delivering a message of peace

Baab Al-Iman - for those who constantly work to be obedient to Allah
What is Jahannan?
Hell

It is a place of eternal suffering
For sinful believers it is a place of purification
What is martyrdom?
being killed in the defence of or struggle for your faith
Does martyrdom justify terrorist acts?
No
Surah 2:256 says that ‘there should be no compulsion in the religion’ i.e. people should not be forced to believe
How do Muslim beliefs in life after death affect how they interact with non-believers?
They might try to convert them so that they can enter into paradise too

They try to live a good life so that they will be judged favourably
