Who was Adam?
Allah’s first creation.
Created from clay and made in Allah’s image and given the ability to make choices and reason
What role does Adam fulfil?
Adam was Allah’s Kalifah.
Angels bowed to him as he answered all the questions that Allah asked him. Iblis did not bow as he thought that he was better than Adam
What happened to Adam?
He disobeyed Allah so was sent from Al-Jannah to Earth. However, Allah promised to still guide Adam so that he could once again be obedient to Allah.
Who was Hawwa?
Adam’s wife (Eve) - all humans are descendants of Adam and Hawwa.
Who was Ibrahim?
Father of the Arab people and of the prophets.
He was a hanif
What is a hanif?
Believer in one god
What role does Ibrahim have?
He showed commitment to the faith by being willing to do whatever Allah asked.
Allah tested Ibrahim’s devotion by telling him to sacrifice his first born son Isma’il. Iblis 3 times told Ibrahim not to do it. Ibrahim obeyed Allah who swapped Isma’il for a ram at the last moment.
What is Ibrahim recognised as?
The father of monotheism.
The Qur’an calls Ibrahim ‘a friend of Allah’ - Surah 4:125
Who was Isma’il?
The son of Ibrahim.
Surah 37:100 calls him a blessing from Allah
What role does Isma’il have?
He was left with his mother in a deserted place (Makkah) at Allah’s request.
When food and water ran out Isma’il kicked his heel and a spring miraculously appeared.
After his mother’s death Isma’il was visited by Ibrahim and the built the Kaaba.
This is the centre of Islam and what Muslims face towards when they pray
Who was Musa
Musa was placed in a basket on the river Nile to save him from being killed by the pharaoh. He was found and rescued but eh pharaoh’s wife and Musa’s mother was hired as his nanny,
What role does Musa have?
Demonstrates Allah’s care and power to protect.
Musa became the leader of the Israelites (Surah 73:15)
Allah revealed the Tawrat (Torah) to Musa and gave him the 10 Commandments
The Qur’an records Musa as a grateful servant of Allah (Surah 33:69)
