Cohesion happens due to water being attached to the glass then adhesion happens & other polar molecules follow as 1 atom is already attached to the glass
The cohesion happens as the atoms have a slightly negative or positive charge (polar molecule) is attached to the other polar molecule
e.g. root hair cell & stem to transport water for photosynthesis
