- Boys = gain 20cm + 20kg.

Primary sex characteristics
Parts of the body that are directly involved in reproduction + only start to dev during puberty although present from birth (eg. first ov + menstruation, penis enlarges, testes grow + start producing sperm).
Secondary sex characteristics
Changes that occur to males + females but are not distinctly related to reproduction + are not present at birth (eg. body hair, hips widen, breasts develop, voice lowers, facial hair appears).
Motor skill development
By end of puberty, arms + legs are proportionate to the rest of the body + coordination greatly improves.

Behaviours
Peer group, culture, + family influence as well as wanting independence.
Social roles + expectations
Greater independence contributes to more complex social roles (eg. employee, intimate relationship).

Types of interactions change as youth are given more freedom + treated more like adults.
