Development
The series of orderly, predictable changes that occur from fertilisation until death.
Physical development
Changes to body + it’s systems.

Changes in size (eg. body gets bigger during puberty).

Changes in complexity (eg. decline in body systems, increase in complexity of the brain).
Motor skills development
Refers to the control over the muscles in the body.
- Gross - larger muscle groups (eg.walking, skipping).
- Fine - smaller muscle groups (eg. writing, drawing, cutting with scissors).
Social development
The increasing complexity of behaviour patterns used in relationships with other people.
