Q

Concept of Herzberg’s Motivation Theory

A

People have 2 sets of needs:

1) Basic animal needs called ‘hygiene factors’:
-status
-security
-work conditions
-company policies and administration
-relationship with superiors/subordinates
-salary

2) Needs that allow worker to grow psychologically, called ‘motivators’:
-achievement
-recognition
-personal growth/development
-promotion
-work itself

Hygiene factors need fulfilment, if not it de-motivates.
Motivators truly motivate workers.
