What are features of crohns?
Skip lesions
Affects from serosa to mucosa
Commonly affects terminal ileum
What medication is used for the induction of Crohns remission?
Oral prednisolone
What can cause abnormal Urea 13 breath test results?
Taking abx within past 4 wks
Taking a proton pump inhibitor (or equivalent) within past 2 weeks
What are features of a mild UC flare up?
<4 stools per day with or without blood
No systemic symptoms
Normal ESR and CRP
What are features of a moderate UC flare up?
4-6 stools a day
Minimal systemic disturbance
What are features of a severe UC flare up?
> 6 stools a day with blood
Systemic disturbance e.g. fever
What are the risk factors for barrets oesophagus?
GORD= most common
Male gender
Smoking
Central Obesity
