2019 NOV (done in class FW + P) Flashcards
outline one reason why interception decreases over time during rainfall event (2)
- there is a limit as to how much water can be stored on leaf surfaces
- so after a few hours of rainfall no more can be stored so interception storage decreases
three possible ways urban development might change how rainwater moves through drainage basins (2 + 2 + 2)
1
- urban development leads to deforestation therefore less interception storage
- so more rainfall will flow through the drainage basin
2
- more concrete surfaces means more impermeable surfaces
- so more rainwater as surface run off
3
- more impermeable surfaces means less infiltration
- less rainwater stored in groundwater
explain one way in which people trafficking can be reduced (2)
- policies put in place by industries and institutions
- eg. policies refusing to work with firms that exploit trafficked people
suggest how two groups of people have been affected by one anti natalist policy (3+3)
1
- young girls in china were killed or abandoned in nurseries
- due to the preference of having boys due to one child policy
- which led to them not getting a legal status and having a lack of opportunities
2.
- increasing inequality for the poorer population
- due to the more wealthy population being able to afford the fines that came with the one child policy
- leading to the poor/rich divide worsening
using the infographic, explain one way it demonstrates to the audience how they can help end poverty (2)
- infographic shows that change can be achieved by decreasing extreme hunger
- and individuals can donate money to provide food/improve agriculture
evaluate the strengths of the links between poverty and gender shown in the infographic (6)
- overall the links aren’t very strong and isn’t the main message of the infographic
- the job bar chart uses symbols representing men
- implying only men take up the work force
- so only men can assist in decreasing poverty
- also recognises women have a role
- money given to women is used to provide education for their children
- giving the children opportunities to break out of poverty with the help of the money given to mothers
