I enjoyed the quaint shops, the unpretentious people, and the genuine friendliness.

I perused the shops and learned about the quirky history of the town by shooting the breeze with the old- timers at the local bar.
perused - perRUUZE. To read or examine, typically with great care. quirky - unusual, strange, unexpected in a good fun way. shoot the breeze - To spend time talking in an idle manner; talk idly. old- timers - sb that lives in a place for a long time
To each his own, but that sounds like dullsville to me.
To each his own - each person has his own likes and wants that not everyone else likes.
Maybe I shouldn’t dismiss small town charm quite so quickly.

It was adapted into a long-running TV show. Then, it was turned into a movie franchise.

I feel a sense of foreboding. I have a sneaking suspicion that things aren’t going to go well.
