Why did France want to diversify the economy?
A
Because a more wealthy colony meant a wealthier empire. More resources like metal and timber not only fur meant they could sell and manufacture more things

Not good- farmers were too busy working on their own land, transportation of some goods was expensive, not agricultural surplus
