Q

Discuss alpine glaciers (5)

A
  • They’re high up in mountains
    • Where the air is cooler
  • In the summer they melt a little, creating steam
  • They melting also causes higher sea levels
  • In winter they freeze again

Q

Discuss climate change affecting polar bears (4)

A
  • Polar bears feed on seal while making use of floating ice
  • As the ice melts, the drifting ice gets smaller
  • Therefore the bears need to swim futher
  • Many bears get exaused and die because of starvation and drowning

Q

Explain how climate change affects tge snow (5)

A
  • The more water there is, the more snow there will be
  • The more water released by glaciers, the more water is obsorbed by the atmosphere
  • Thefore, the is more snow available to fall in cold areas e.g. Siberia
  • The wild animalsin the area will have difficulties grazing in heavy snow
  • as the prey dies, so do the predators

Q

How does climate change effect the glaciers? (5)

A
  • As the temperatures rise, the glaciers melt faster
  • Alphine glaciers often flood fields + villages on lower land
  • Winters are also warmer, so they don’t freeze again
  • Glaciers become smaller each year
  • Once they’re completely melted, there will be no water source for animals + plants that depend on it
