what is myotonic dystrophy?

A

genetic condition making muscle weakness so presents with loss of facial expression etc

in eyes = get ptosis (droopy eyelid), and potential squint from some muscle relaxation

  • lisch nodules = yellow/brown specs on iris (makes no issues)
  • optic glioma = tumour compressing optic nerve

  • scleritis (inflammation of sclera)

uvea = iris, ciliary body, choroid (middle layer of eye)

anterior uveitis = inflammation iris
intermediate uveitis = inflammation ciliary body
posterior uveitis = inflammation choroid
pan uveitis = all uvea inflamed
