what is glaucoma?
group of diseases that damage optic nerve often due to high intraocular pressure
what is side effect of latanoprost?
increasing eyelash growth
what are drugs given to treat glaucoma?
drugs to lower pressure
- beta blockers (timolol)
- prostaglandin analogs (latanoprost)
- carbonic anhydrase inhibitor (acetazolamide)
- sympathomimetics (brimonidine)
- miotics (pilocarpine)
what is anti-VEGF for?
macula oedema and to treat wet AMD
what are mydriatics?
drugs that cause pupil dilation by blocking parasympathetic e.g. tropicamide & cyclopentolate
what is diagnostic dye?
fluorescein = make blue light to see
what is sustained release drug?
steroid implants that slowly release drug into eye
