Homology
a fundamental similarity based on common descent.

ortho=exact, same exact gene in different organism
Paralog
Paralogs are genes related by duplication within a genome. Orthologs retain the same function in the course of evolution, whereas paralogs evolve new functions, even if these are related to the original one.
similarity
when looking at eg a sequene, two residues can be similar, eg not identical, but alike or often interchnaged from the other residue.
Identity
degree to which two or more sequences are actually identical at each position
