what is an ACO? (accountable health organization)
- A formal coordinated group of physicians, pharmacies, freestanding outpatient centers, and other providers sharing patient records.
- Based on quality scores, ACO receives payment based on a cost-saving model
provide seamless, longitudinal care at the level of the patient in the community (primary care)

Responsible for the total management of all parts including patient care and Answer to BODs
Chief Executive Officers
Focus on purpose and its accomplishments, hire the CEO and may assist in selection of CMO, have varying degrees of responsibility
