- Severe GORD
What are 4 CI to NG tube
- Upper GI obstruction
- Short-Gut syndrome
- Recent fundoplication
- Oesophageal atresia
- Oesophageal varices
What is a PEG tube
Incision made in abdomen and tube inserted directly into stomach
When is a PEG tube used
- Requiring nutrition for more than 4 Weeks
- Unsafe swallow (MND, PD, Oesophageal Cancer)
- Head and Neck cancer receiving radiotherapy
What are contraindications to PEG tube
- Gastric Ulcer
- Gastric Outlet Obstruction
- Neoplasm
- Bowel Obstruction
- Previous Gastric Surgery
- Ascites
- Peritonitis
- Severe reflux

Tube inserted through incision in abdomen to stomach then into jejunum
