Electrolyte anomalies prior to re-feeding (hypokalaemia, hypophosphataemia, hypomagnesaemia)

History: alcohol-abuse, chemotherapy, diuretics, antacids

- Hypokalaemia

Torsades de pointes
How is re-feeding syndrome prevented
If individual has not eaten for 5-days. Feed at less than 50% of requirements for 2-days
How should individuals with re-feeding syndrome be managed
Feed at 10Kcal/Kg/d for 4-7d then gradually increase. Start oral vitamin B and thiamine
