1st week back review Flashcards
Levels of Classification
D,K,P,C,O,F,G,S
3 domains of life
Archaea, bacteria, eukarya
List of kingdoms
Protista, Funji, Plantae, animalia
characteristics of animals (to be considered living)
heterotrophs (Make/ingest food), Mobile/motile, Multicellular, sexual reproduction, adult is diploid
Invertebrates lack what
endoskeleton
5 types of classification
levels of organization, type of body plan, type of coelom, type of symmetry, segmented or not
3 levels of organization
cell level, tissue level, organ level
two germ layers
endoderm and ectoderm (tissue level)(no organs)
3 germ layers
endoderm, ectoderm, mesoderm (Organ level)
two types of body plans
1) sac plan 2) tube within a tube plan
sac plan
organisms have a incomplete digestive system
tube within a tube plan
complete digestive system food enters and waste exit through separate openings
3 types of coelom
true coelom, pseudocoelom, acoelomate
true coelom
internal body cavity is completely lined with mesoderm
Pseudocoelom
incompletely lined with mesoderm
Acoelomate
have mesoderm but no lined body cavity
Types of symmetry
radial, bilateral, a symmetry
radial symmetry
animal is organized circular, center point and all body appendages are arranged around the center point (octupus*)
Bilateral symmetry
equal right/left half if divided down a mid line,
1) protostomes - “Mouth 1st”
2)deuterostomes - “Mouth 2nd”
A symmetery
the body has no particular symmetry, segmented or not repetition of body parts along the body
Phylum Porifora means
pore bearing ex: sea sponges
