1st and 3rd Signs Flashcards
1st and 3rd sign after touching indicator of hat face or head coach touches arm
This is where everyone goes to their assigned spot and catcher throws down to 2nd to get the out allowing the run to score.
After indicator head face or hat coach touches his belt
Pitcher uses a high leg lift then does a slow pick off move to 3rd, the 1st base runner will steal 2nd, once 3rd base recieves slow pick off move he throws to 2nd to get the out.
After indicator of head face or hat coach touches his head
The defense acts like a throw to 2nd is happening but a strong throw is made back to pitcher instead, pitcher then throws to 3rd if runner got to far off base. Make sure if way off pitcher runs him back a little before throw
Multiple signals
Again coach May give multiple signals, its always the last signal give unless coach says its the first one or second one. Watch entire signal.
If missed signal
Call your coach and roll your fingers to say give me signal again
After indicator of head face or hat coach touches his fists together
Catcher makes a quick throw to 3rd giving up the steal to 2nd
After indicator of hat face or head coach grabs his wrists
Catcher acts as if he is throwing to 2nd only the 2nd basemen cuts off throw mid way and then he throws out runner at 3rd or home. Catcher must throw a line drive and not worry if 2nd is there yet. He will be.
1st and 3rd positions every pitch till base is stolen
Every play SS always covers 2nd, 2B always runs half way inbetween 2nd base and pitcher looking for throw, 1st covers 1st and 3rd covers 3rd. Outfield backs up each base. Always play ball then go to position. They may swing and hit
If first base runner takes off early and pitcher steps off signals I will use to let you know which runner I want you to focus on
If I start 1st and 3rd with touching my chest I want you to focus on getting the out at 2nd base and let the runner score
If no chest is touched then I want you to fake pump throw to second then turn and throw home
