Balck people were only allowed to sit into the “coloured” only seats
1st of December 1955 Rosa parks didn’t get off the seat for a white man and was arrested

This was an act passes by president Eisenhower
emphasised that everyone should be allowed to vote, followed the success of the boycott and stated all people had the right to serve as juries
Significance of Martin Luther King
He was a minister from Alabama who was part of the leader of the MIA (with Ralph Abernathy) and leader of the SCLC
He was an excellent public speaker, followed the ideas of Ghandi and Jesus
Believed in peace
What was the SCLC and what was its importance?
Martin Luther King founded the SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Council) to help promote and organise civil rights protests and activities
