Q

Benefits of LIMS

A
  • Multiple users can access and update information
  • Prevent duplicate testing if multiple samples arrive
  • Provide statistics such as TATs, volume of samples received (other performance indicators)
  • Finance
  • Link to lab equipment (worksheets etc), less manual transcription, which could lead to errors.
  • Reduces paper usage

Q

Issues with NGS data storage

A
  • Raw files are very large
  • Analysis methods changing continuously making repeat analysis of historical data difficult (almost easier to re-sequence)
  • NHS IT infrastructure is often inadequate
