November 1904
The Union of Liberation eld a grand meeting inviting representatives of the zemstva and other professional societies were represented.
They declared they wanted a constitutional government.
Winter 1904-5
a series of banquets were held during which the liberals could discuss Russian issues
May 1905
A Union of Unions was set up
- an umbrella group that included the Union f Liberation, professionals and Clerks.
They press Foran elected parliament, voted in by universal suffrage.
June 1905
The Union of Unions prepared for a general strike to occur in October.
The aim was to bring Russia to a standstill and force the Tsar to agree to their demands.
Zemstva and Dumas plus ordinary people sent in petitions to the government demanding more power.
The petitions showed how politicised people were becoming.
September 1905
the Zemstva conference rejected Bulygin’s proposals and demanded a Suma with universal suffrage.
October 1905
Frightened by the violence and trusting the Tsar’s promises, the liberals accept the October Manifesto.
