- if the president dies or is removed from office, the Vice President takes over as president
- if the Vice President leave office, the president can select a new VP, but congress has to approve
- If the president is not able to hold office for a short time, he/she must write a letter to congress stating that fact
- to get their power back, they must write another letter to congress
- if the president is not mentally capable of holding office, he/she may be removed by the Vice President and the sitting cabinet
