-Each citizen only vote once
-Voting done is secret
-AEC (Australia Electoral Commission) must check that votes are honestly counted
Explain how you think our democracy would be affected if core beliefs and attitudes (right to dissent) were not protected. In your answer, give two examples of possible outcomes.
If core democratic beliefs and attitudes, such as freedom, equality, and the rule of law, were not protected, our democracy could become unstable and unfair. For instance, without freedom of speech, people might fear expressing their opinions, leading to suppressed voices and authoritarian rule. Similarly, if equality under the law were not upheld, discrimination could increase, marginalizing certain groups and undermining social cohesion. These outcomes would weaken trust in democratic institutions and threaten the fairness and inclusivity of the system.
Resolutions of conflicts

-mediation
-reconciliation

-mediation-a method of a dispute settlement where the parties meet before an independent third party helps discuss their dispute and reach a mutually acceptable resolution
