Social change
When a whole society adopts a new belief or way of behaving which then becomes widely accepted as the norm
What is the role of minority influence in social change

African American civil rights movement
- Civil rights March, 1950s drew attention
- Marches took place over US, displaying a consistent message + intent over several years
- Cognitive conflict - poeple no longer accept status quo + engaged in deeper procesing
- Freedom rides - protested against segregation on bus - beaten + victims of mob violence ~ augmentation principle
- Snow ball effect - 1964, civil right act passed - minority to majority
- Social cryptoamnesia - US different place - forgotten about events that led to change
