17 - Raster analysis Flashcards
Why do floating cells not have a VAT
Because the cells in the grid can
assume any value within a given range of values
Raster environment def
area of analysis (extent) and
output cell size (spatial
resolution/extent) of your raster
The area of extent may correspond to? (3)
1) specific raster
2) area defined by minimum and maximum coordinates or
3) a combination of rasters.
Analysis mask function
also be used to set the analysis environment.
The analysis mask limits analysis to all cells that do not have “no data” values
GUI def
Graphical user interface - type of user interface through which users interact with electronic devices via visual indicator representations.
Raster operations
- Local
- Focal
- Zonal
- Global
Local operations
CELL BY CELL
Types of local operations
- Reclassification (recoding/ transforming)
- Multiple raster analysis
Reclassification methods
- One-to-one change
- Range-to-one change
Focal operations
apply one calculation to all input raster cells within a “focus” / neighbourhood
- The focal cell is moved from one cell to the next to complete the operation.
Mask def
Like clipping
Mosaic def
Combining multiple rasters into a single raster
