- Ships Underway plan from berth to berth
- Much of planning is done by consulting nautical charts & nautical pubs
- Presented by NAV during the NAV Brief

A
Estimated Time of Arrival/Departure
When choosing an ETA/ETD, the following must be considered:
- Local Navigation Regulations
- Tides and Currents
- Expected Marine Traffic
- Expected Weather
- Daylight
- Operational Requirements
- Fuel Management
- Crew’s Quality of Life

Determine distance and Speed of Advance (SOA)
A
- When calculating ETA/ETD, ensure the timezones are the same
Transit Time = ETA - ETD
Speed of Advance = Total Distane (nm) / Transit time (Hours)

A
Information about an intended route of travel, including speeds and arrival/departure times
