15.2 Reflection Flashcards
What are the two rules of reflection that apply to all surfaces?
- incident ray and reflected ray lie in a single plane that is perpendicular to surface(the normal)
- the incidence angle is equal to angle of reflection
What are the three things that can happen when a wave meets a boundary of another media?
can be reflected, transmitted or absorbed
What is the incidence ray?
The wave oncoming onto the surface
What is the incidence angle?
the angle at which the incidence ray meets the surface
What is the reflected ray ?
The ray which leavs after reflection
What is the reflected angle?
The angle at which the reflected ray leaves after meeting the surface
What does the fraction of wave reflected depends on?
The medium being hit by the wave and the incidence angle
Would the fraction of reflection usually increase when angle is made greater?
yes
