Woman who take vows, never marry and devote their lives to the church

What does the word catholic mean
Universal
Who is Benedict
He founded the Monte Cassino monastery near Rome in Italy. He produced a set of instructions on how to live as a monk.
What is a friar?
Means brother. Dedicated their lives to service. They would live among the people and would preach as they travelled
Who was the pope?
Means “Father”. Patriarch or head of the Church of Rome. He extended his leadership over the roman church in all of Europe. He also directed the activities of the clergy and religious leaders
What was the priests job?
They lived among the people. They led the services and instructed the people in how to live and worship. They also preserved and developed many of the doctrines.
What did the priests teach?
People could not receive Gods grace without the help of a priest. And to be saved they had to take part in a sacrament.
