14.2 Writing Equilibrium Constant Flashcards
Define homogenous equilibrium and heterogenous equilibrium
Homogenous equilibrium applies to reactions in which all reacting species are in the same phase
Heterogeneous results from a reversible reaction involving reactants and products that are in different phases
What does Kp and Kc represent?
Kc: the concentrations are expressed in terms of moles per liter
Kp: he concentrations are expressed in arm (partial pressure)
What is the rule for writing the equilibrium constant for the overall reaction involving two or more reactions?
If a reaction can be expressed as the sums of two or more reaction, the equilibrium constant for the overall reaction is given by the product of equilibrium constants of the individual reaction
