1.3 Plant Amd Animal Cells Flashcards
True or falls. The cells of plants and the cells of all animals have many structures in common.
True
List the animal cells structures.
The nucleus Chromosomes Cell membrane Cytoplasm Some animal cells have
Flagellum
Cilia
What is the nucleus?
The control center it directs all of the cells activities in plant and animal cells.
What are chromosomes?
Contains DNA or genetic information which holds “constructions plans” for all peaces of the cell.
What is the cell membrane?
Holds the co tents of the cell in place and acts like a gate keeper. Controlling the movement of materials such as nutrients and waste in and out of the cell.
What is cytoplasm
A watery fluid that contains everything inside the cell membrane and outside the nucleus.
What is a vacuole?
It is used to store water and nutrients, and also moves waste out of the cell.
What is flagellum?
Some animal cells have a flagellum, it is a whip like tail that helps the cells to move. Not on all cells.
What is the cilia?
Some special cells have cilia, or tiny hairs that work together to move a cell. Not found in all cells.
What are plant cell structures?
Nucleus Chromosomes Cell membrane Cytoplasm Vacuole Cell wall Chloroplast.
What is the difference in a plant cell vacuole compared to an animal cell vacuole?
It’s much larger.
What is the cell wall?
Protects and support the plant cell.
What are chloroplast?
The food factory’s of the plant cell. They contain chlorophyll.
What does chlorophyll do?
Allows plant cells to make their own food by using the sun light carbon dioxide and water.
Animal cells can not do this.
Where in a cell would you finds genetic information?
In the chromosome.
